Introducing the best way to learn sports photography
I’m Rafael Suanes and I know that finding a good professional sports photography teacher in Washington, DC is hard. That’s why DC Sports Photography Academy was created; to help amateurs and professionals alike learn how to be amazing sports photographers.
I know from my own experiences that a classroom setting or online courses cannot give you the skills and experiences you need to become a great sports photographer.
It is necessary to have a hands-on approach, an opportunity to learn under pressure, and in the setting that you want to work. That’s why DC Sports Photography Academy embraces a fully one-on-one approach to learning that incorporates ‘teaching on the job’ to make you a better sports photographer.
Learn Sports Photography from a Pro
I have been a freelance sports photographer for more than 20 years. I have worked with every major professional team in the Washington, DC area, which means that I don’t cover just one sport.
Currently, I am the staff photographer for both Georgetown University and George Mason University, handling all their athletic photographic needs. I also frequently cover professional sports for a variety of national news agencies. My images are published all over the world on a frequent basis with numerous images consistently being named among the best photos of the year by USA Today Sports Images.
With my background, passion for teaching, and access to high-intensity games, you will get the training and experience you need to improve your sports photography skills or build a well-rounded portfolio to expand your career.
